Senior Software Engineer

Native Mobile, Device Integration & AI-Assisted Development

Senior software engineer with a mobile development background dating to 2010. I combine native iOS and Android expertise, object-oriented design, and AI-assisted development to deliver product features and solve integration problems across apps, devices, and firmware.

At ThinkAR, I develop AiLens companion apps for smart glasses, including teleprompter and translation features, alongside SoraClip’s translation and AI voice assistant. I also modify existing firmware and develop web and desktop integrations, including proofs of concept that were adopted.

Previous work includes custom financial charting, a restaurant floor-plan editor, UI performance improvements for large chat rooms, and modifications to a cross-platform media player.

ThinkAR

Senior Mobile App Engineer (iOS / Android)

Develop AiLens companion apps for smart glasses and SoraClip applications for connected devices. Additional work includes modifications to existing firmware and web and desktop integrations for product requirements and vendor evaluation.

  • AiLens — teleprompter and translation: Developed teleprompter workflows with script import, pagination, font controls and in-app previews, alongside live interpretation and two-way conversation translation. Coordinated phone/glasses interaction and text layout with firmware display constraints.
  • SoraClip — translation and AI voice assistant: Developed live language translation and AI voice assistant features with language switching, saved conversation history, original-audio recording and playback. Integrated Bluetooth audio and interchangeable AI services, handling interruptions and resource cleanup across conversation sessions.
  • Device communication architecture: Designed BLE command abstractions and an execution pipeline covering queuing, response matching, timeouts, cancellation, and error handling.
  • Cross-platform POCs and vendor handoff: Built macOS/Windows bridge POCs and a shared web interface for Bluetooth control, Wi-Fi audio/video streaming, device status, and text display. Separated device, command, and transport interfaces to share execution flows while isolating platform APIs, and delivered executable packages and English engineering documentation for vendor testing and handoff.
  • Firmware proofs of concept: Modified smart-glasses firmware for WSS audio/video streaming and classroom caption broadcasting to multiple devices. Implemented handling for transmission congestion, frame integrity, caption ordering, and device state across application and firmware layers.
  • macOS system integration: Built AiLensUltraCamera, a virtual-camera proof of concept that connects H.264 streams from the glasses to a CoreMediaIO Camera Extension. Integrated Bluetooth connectivity and HFP audio, and produced a universal DMG with code signing and notarization.
  • Diagnostics across system layers: Instrumented connection setup as traceable stages, correlating Android state, firmware responses, and Sentry events through connection IDs. Diagnosed media/command packet parsing issues from communication logs and added regression tests.
  • Repeatable development tooling: Created macOS firmware build, version archiving, and dual-chip flashing workflows with device identity and calibration data backup/restore. Delivered a Windows flashing variant and added read-back verification and failure handling.

Wantgoo

iOS Mobile App Developer

Built the Wantgoo iOS stock-monitoring app from the ground up. Independently designed and implemented its charting core in Swift and Core Graphics for prices, trading volumes, technical indicators, and investor activity data.

  • Composable chart architecture: Separated data calculations, coordinate transforms, drawing, and chart composition through object-oriented design. Enabled candlesticks, moving averages, and other indicators to share rendering and interaction mechanisms while aligning series with different starting points on the time axis.
  • Interactive data inspection and synchronized charts: Implemented pinch zoom anchored to the gesture center, horizontal scrolling, and long-press data inspection using binary search to locate data points. Synchronized zoom, offset, and selection between price and volume charts, including view positioning after changes to the candlestick interval.
  • Viewport rendering: Generated drawing objects and adjusted the Y-axis scale for the current viewport to reduce drawing of offscreen data. Applied clipping and positioned high/low price labels to handle different zoom levels and price ranges.

Evervictory Technology

iOS / Android App Developer

  • Built custom candlestick charts for iOS and Android, using OpenGL on Android and custom chart implementations on both platforms.
  • Helped teammates investigate and resolve technical problems during development.

Gamania Digital Entertainment

R&D Engineer

Built most of the community home experience in the beanfun! iOS app, including its mixed-content feed, image browsing, and social interactions such as reactions, comments, and sharing. Also developed real-time chat and photo-editing features.

  • High-volume chat UI: Developed the iOS client for chat rooms with thousands of users. Batched incoming messages in the background and limited the display data window, preserving scroll position as new messages arrived and history was loaded.
  • Extensible message delivery: Designed a shared pipeline for pending-message state, send scheduling, and success/failure handling, while isolating media preparation and uploads in dedicated workers. Enabled text, image, audio, and video messages to reuse common workflows.
  • Photo editor architecture: Separated canvas rendering, drawable objects, and interaction tools so text, stickers, and freehand annotations could share selection and transformation behavior. Modeled dragging, scaling, and rotation as composable commands with undo/redo support.
  • Mention-aware text editing: Built a linked-list text model that represents ordinary characters and user mentions as distinct nodes. Handled insertion, deletion, and selection of mention tokens while tracking user IDs and UTF-16 text ranges.
  • Cross-platform technical support: Supported the Android team with chat performance, custom UI, and architecture for new features; worked with teammates to identify technical constraints and practical improvements.

Masterwork Aoitek (Lollipop)

App Software Engineer

Developed the Lollipop iOS app for connected baby cameras, covering live viewing, recording, event history, and camera setup. Rewrote the app in Swift and helped new engineers understand the architecture, debugging techniques, and native APIs.

  • Media pipeline extensions: Extended ijkPlayer’s C and Objective-C playback pipeline to add in-app video recording, exposing decoded video frames and audio buffers to AVFoundation. Integrated recording controls and completion handling into the Swift DVR interface.
  • Streaming architecture: Separated playback from stream selection, prioritizing local RTSP with RTMP fallback. Centralized timeout, retry, and connection lifecycle handling behind player and source interfaces.
  • Monitoring timeline: Designed a composable, zoomable timeline aligning event markers, activity intervals, recording intervals, and snapshots. Used binary search for visible ranges, incremental history loading with local cache reuse, and offscreen snapshot cleanup to control rendering and data-loading work.
  • Reusable camera setup: Consolidated camera onboarding, Wi-Fi changes, and device rebinding into reusable workflows. Shared BLE discovery, connection handling, and timeout reporting while isolating the steps specific to each operation.
  • Storage abstraction: Introduced data-access protocols and domain models around Realm persistence, keeping database-specific objects behind DAO implementations and separating storage concerns from application logic.

Restaurant Reservation and Seating Management System (Reservation)

Primary Developer | Contract Project

Developed major application features and independently designed and implemented the restaurant floor-plan editor and seating-map display, turning venue configuration and seating workflows into an interactive iPad interface.

  • Custom floor-plan editor: Built a Core Graphics canvas with panning, pinch zoom, coordinate transforms, and grid snapping. Supported placement, continuous drawing, dragging, 90-degree rotation, duplication, deletion, and overlap detection for tables and venue objects.
  • Extensible object-oriented design: Separated canvas rendering, drawable objects, and interaction tools through interfaces and polymorphism so different table types and venue objects could share interaction behavior.
  • Visual seating workflow: Integrated native drag and drop to assign reservations to available tables, including assignments spanning multiple tables. Displayed current and upcoming reservations, dining progress, and alerts for tables nearing or exceeding their dining time limits.
  • Configuration and state consistency: Integrated APIs to save and restore areas, table positions, orientations, and operational settings. Coordinated list and seating-map updates after actions and shared dining-progress data with the detail view to avoid inconsistent calculations across screens.
